Hi
there! Welcome
to Life So Sweet, a lifestyle blog chronicling my life as a newlywed and
second-year teacher in North Carolina’s Queen City. I’m Mary, a former
financial analyst who
traded in corporate america for the classroom after feeling called to join the fight
for educational equity in our nation’s poorest schools. I now teach math and
love on 90 incredible sixth graders at a school in south Charlotte.
A
little bit about me:
- I can almost always be found wearing my
converse chucks.
-
My favorite place in the world is on my parent’s front porch in Indiana,
drinking sweet tea in an old white rocker.
-
I met my husband on a dance floor on a frigid winter night in Minneapolis, MN. His
dance moves wooed me then and still make me swoon … though now most dance
parties take place in our kitchen.
-
I spent the first 18 years of my life in the same home off a country road in
small-town Indiana. Since then, I have lived in ten different houses, five
different cities, and two different countries.
- I have an irrational love for mashed
potatoes. I cannot say no, and I will ask for seconds.
I
don’t update this blog as often as
I’d like, but when I do, I write about life as a newlywed, stories and
challenges from Room C-16, and my sometimes laughable, sometimes triumphant
experiments in Charlotte’s tiniest kitchen.
